Review of Thomas Hooker Nor’Easter
Posted on February 2, 2010 by mike
I’m proud to give you a guest review from someone I have met in the blogosphere. He’s been kind enough to submit a brew review for all of us to enjoy! Thanks Lost!
Josh (a.k.a. Lost) from the state of Massachusetts is the author of LostintheBeerAisle.com. Although he’s enjoyed craft beer for a number of years, he only recently got serious about drinking and reviewing beer as a hobby. Josh created LostintheBeerAisle with the intent of creating an unintimidating and welcoming place for craft beer fans of all knowledge levels to come and discuss beer.
After a rousing afternoon which included three hours of accounting homework, I’m ready for a beer and a movie. “The Express” is on the tube and Thomas Hooker Nor’Easter is in my pint glass. This is the first beer from Thomas Hooker that I’ve ever tried. I’ve been told that it’s a decent brewery. They are out of Bloomfield,
Connecticut. Their website is straight-forward, but informative. Hooker Beers Website
The beer is a darkish red/brown. Less than a finger of head. No lacing at all. 6.0% ABV.
Both the aroma and the taste have me scratching my head. It’s mostly caramel malty. Not bitter at all. There is a spiciness to it. The beer is just slightly sour also. On top of all that, I think there might be something additionally fruity sweet (e.g. cherry). As the beer warms up the flavors are much more discernible.
All-in-all, it’s not a bad beer. On the other hand, not great beer either.
