I like to drink a Newcastle once in a while and this doesn’t taste much like it. It has a lot more sweet flavors but balances them with a nice hop bitterness at the end. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Does your beer store have any way of trying before buying or a place to pick up just one of something?

Generally I stay away from those pick one situations because they are usually older, but if you keep your eye on it you’ll see that some of them aren’t and you can snag a good try that came in a case that was damaged.

Just a thought.

I enjoyed this.
I blew right past this beer in the beer aisle this evening, as most redhook beers suck and especially ones labeled ” seasonal” I figured it was a spring wheat ale.
anyways, I’m excited to try this since the entire style category (nut brown { Northern English brown}) are based almost entirely off of Newcastle and sam smith’s, an American interpretation is a welcome addition.

I’m excited to give it a try. I’ve got a bottle of Porter for ya next time we meet up. It should be ready to drink, but I bet it would will better in the middle of the summer. Your call though. I’m going to try and hang on to some for later in the year though. That is going to be really hard though. I may have to hide it from myself.

Got my 3rd batch of the Hazelnut Brown Ale racked. I’ll probably bottle it weekend after next. Will be ready in mid April. I will try the Redhook sometime. Thanks.

I’m really looking for a way to review beer that makes you want to go out and try it. I read through so many boring reviews on Beer Advocate and think to myself, this can be more interactive. So I’m trying to find that formula.

Mike, I like your new format for beer reviews. Having your video and main information above the fold is good.

I have just a few suggestions, if I may…

In the text below the video, maybe put up a list of the beer’s highlights – taste, smell, appearance, your thoughts, etc. You know, like maybe a 4 or 5 bullet-point list that summarizes the review. This way you can still engage your readers that may not have the time to sit through the entire video to get the whole review.

Experimenting to find what works for you is the name of this game, and I hope this new format does work for you.

I’ve never been a fan of nut browns, but I do like Redhook’s beer. I’m gonna have to pick one of these up pretty soon.
